A Level 3D Design-Architecture

Find joy in the spaces around you? Like to create tangible pieces and build new worlds? Then the A Level in 3D Design/Architecture at City of Portsmouth College is an ideal place to learn.

This course is ideal if you enjoy making, working with and exploiting the creative potential of a range of materials including paper, card, wood, plaster, clay and wire.

Starting with a series of workshops, you’ll discover the most effective way to visually communicate your ideas, and then build a personal portfolio that reflects your style. Through investigations, contextual studies and idea development through drawing and making, you’ll explore themes and concepts that reflect your personal interests.

Following the completion of your personal portfolio, you’ll undertake personal investigations in the second year, building on skills and techniques.

From initial concept to realisation, your work might be architectural, or could be lighting, body adornment, sculpture, set design and product design.

There will also be opportunities for you to meet and work with local artists, visit galleries nationally and immerse yourself in the creative world.

You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates.
