A great way to learn about how business works and earn a wage at the same time, the skills gained are essential to the smooth running of any business and are also transferable.
Units include:
Your role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. You will develop key skills and behaviours to support your own progression towards management responsibilities.
To successfully complete the apprenticeship, you will need both maths and English at grade 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2. If necessary, these can be studied at College alongside your apprenticeship.
Most of the work will be completed in the workplace. Attendance is required at College one day a week, Wednesdays 9:30am – 12:30pm. Additional attendance may be required to complete Functional Skills (if needed) and some parts of the knowledge units. Your assessor will liaise with you to set up mutually convenient times for consultation and assessment visits at your place of work.
You will spend 6 hours of your apprenticeship working towards your off-the-job learning, which can consist of college attendance, homework/coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring, and coaching – plus a number of other tasks (more information can be shared).
You will build a portfolio of work and workplace assessors will be in regular contact to provide support, and to arrange on-site visits to observe your ability and skills in your daily role. It is important for you to take ownership of your own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with your employer. Your final grade will be determined by collective performance in the three assessments in the endpoint assessment.
The three assessments are:
• online knowledge based 50 multiple choice questions - 60 minutes (33.3%)
• portfolio-based interview – 30-45 minutes (33.3%)
• project improvement presentation 20-30 minutes (33.3%)
You can progress to a higher-level business administration course, a Team Leading/Supervisor Apprenticeship or an Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship.
