The ACS Gas CCN1 and CENWAT course at City of Portsmouth College covers all elements required for a newly qualified gas engineer (or engineer whose qualification expired more than 12 months ago), so you can obtain your ACS qualification and apply to become gas safe registered.
This five-day course, taught at our North Harbour Campus, covers the gas safety, installation, commissioning, and servicing of appliances:
- gas safety regulations, building regulations, British Standards, IGEM standards
- unsafe situations procedures
- gas pipework
- tightness testing and purging of LP/MP installations
- regulators
- burner pressures/gas rates/combustion testing
- flues and ventilation
- gas controls.
It also includes the following appliances:
- CENWAT - boilers/water heaters.
To take part in this course, you must be a newly qualified Category 1 gas engineer, who needs to sit the CCN1. Alternatively, if your certification expired more than 12 months ago, then you will need to sit the initial assessment route.
The College runs this five-day course at least once a month, starting on a Monday.
The CCN1 ACS gas reassessment is assessed through BPEC in line with all current industry standards. Assessments are both written and practical.
Once completed, you'll be able to apply for gas safe registration.
