The King's Trust Team Programme at City of Portsmouth College is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your existing skills and gain new ones – for free!
This programme is aimed at 16-25 year olds who are unemployed and lacking in qualifications or confidence, and we're also proud to be the first in the country to offer one extra-special team progrmme designed for young people with a learning difference. Plus, it doesn't affect any benefits.
So, what does the programme look like?
- Week 1 – Meet your team! You'll be introduced to 11 other people on your team, and find out what your 12 weeks will be all about. You'll start planning and setting out what you want to achieve.
- Week 2 – Step out of your comfort zone and join us on a four-day action packed adventure. Spend time away in your teams & learn new skills.
- Week 3/4/5 – Plan and complete a community project with your team.
- Week 6 – Take the time to sit and prepare for your upcoming work placements.
- Week 7/8 – With the skills you have developed over the last few weeks, you'll get the opportunity to be involved in a work placement – a good chance to try out a type of work to see whether you like it!
- Week 9 – Next steps will be support with writing a CV and gain some interview techniques.
- Week 10/11 – You'll complete a Team Challenge helping in the community, another great chance to test out all your new skills.
- Week 12 – You'll be invited to a presentation to bring everyone together to celebrate everyone’s achievements.
You will also get the opportunity to develop your maths and english skills.
Once the 12 weeks have been completed you will gain a nationally recognised qualification!
It is aimed at 16-25 year olds, school leavers can also join!
Seven out of 10 young people supported by King's Trust move on to education, training or employment.
