We joined around 400 of the region's leading businesspeople for the annual Central South Business Awards ceremony, which raised more than £7,000 for the charity Heartbeat.

TV star and comedian Simon Brodkin (better known as prankster Lee Nelson) hosted the glittering charity event held at Southampton’s Leonardo Grand Harbour Hotel.

It was all about celebrating businesses and individuals who have gone above and beyond, achieving great results, inspiring others and demonstrating best practice.

We sponsored the Employer of the Year category, with our Deputy Chief Executive and Principal for Curriculum & Quality Matt Phelps presenting the award to Winchester-based Jubb Consulting Engineers.

Jubb, a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of engineers and design consultants, beat off competition from finalists Brightbulb, Brightec, ISON Travel and Leybold UK.

Among the guests was Principal & CEO Katy Quinn, Assistant Principal Lee McCarthy and our Chair of Governors Rob Nitsch.

We also invited along some of the region’s employers we’ve been working particularly closely with in recent months.

“It was a super evening with some amazing businesses,” said Katy.

This year’s charity partner was Heartbeat which supports sick babies, children and adults diagnosed with congenital and cardiovascular diseases, primarily by supporting the work of the Wessex Cardiac Unit at the University Hospital Southampton. The event helped raise more than £7,000 for the charity.

Maarten Hoffmann, Managing Director of Platinum Media Group, said: “We had a record-breaking number of entries in 2024 and the standard just keeps getting higher year-on-year.

“These awards are about recognising and celebrating the entrepreneurs and businesses that make Central South such a vibrant place to work and live. The calibre of entries that we received was very impressive and we congratulate the winners, finalists and all those who took the time to enter. "
