Two Health and Nursing students tend to patients in the training ward at City of Portsmouth College

Today is day 5 of Colleges Week!

We shine a spotlight on our T Level in Health and Nursing, and how as a College, we are contributing to a NHS fit for the future.

T Levels are a blended qualification type - combining classroom studies with invaluable on-the-ground work placements of 45 days or more.

At City of Portsmouth College, we are training the next generation of NHS employees and giving them the essential skills they will need for a rewarding career in the healthcare sector, with tailored lessons and links with industry partners.

By undertaking a work placement that compliments their studies, students get exposure early on to the industry they wish to step in to, firstly ensuring they enjoy the profession, and secondly setting them up for success after College with a well-rounded training experience.

There are many professions within the NHS, not all of them known about or obvious, and the work placement helps to shine a spotlight on the variety of roles available to our students.

We caught up with Tonya and Vicky, employees of Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust, and asked them why they feel work placements are crucial in a students learning journey.

Here's what they had to say:
