This course will teach you about the different types of dementia and the importance of early diagnosis. You will learn about the impact of dementia and person-centred approaches in dementia care.
You will also understand the vital the role of communication, interaction and inclusion plays in the support and care of individuals with the condition.
There are seven mandatory units:
- understanding dementia
- understand how person-centred approaches are used to underpin the care and support of individuals with dementia
- principles of communication and interaction in dementia care and support
- supporting positive interaction, occupation and activity in dementia care
- principles of equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care and support
- understand how to support individuals with dementia to exercise choice and rights
- principles of the administration of medication and well-being of individuals with dementia.
Level 1 qualification in English.
This qualification is online only so you can study it at your own pace in your own workspace.
Your work will be assessed at the end of each unit. The assignments will then be used to create a portfolio of evidence. You will also gain feedback from your personal tutor, to help you progress.
You could go on to study Level 3 Mental Health Awareness.
