For those who prefer a combination of coursework and exams rather than purely written examinations at the end of two years of study, the course explores the foundation units of law including criminal, tort and contract law.
Units include:
You will develop skills in research, communication and legal analysis as well as developing your essay and report-writing skills and your ability to apply the law to different scenarios.
There are opportunities for students to visit the Crown Court and the Magistrates’ Courts as well as Parliament and the Supreme Court. We will attend law workshops at universities too which is a great way to see if that path is for you.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language.
You will have a 9.55am start, one lesson in the morning, one in the afternoon and a guaranteed 4pm finish. You will also have at least one morning and one afternoon per week free for private study.
Assessments will comprise 60% personal investigation and 40% externally set practical exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.
You can progress to many pathways that work effectively with this course, including legal, business, police, government and charity. It provides exciting routes into legal apprenticeships and legal executive courses and a proficient knowledge of the law will also facilitate many other areas of employment, including retail and marketing. Many also go on to study Law at university.
