This course follows on from the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design & Communication and is perfect for students looking to pursue a specialist career in the creative industries. It provides a strong foundation for a broad range of creative subjects at further and higher education, or creative apprenticeships.
Units include:
The Extended Diploma usually involves working on a live project for an external client. Recent projects have included taking part in the Royal Opera House Design Challenge and creating mural designs for a hotel. On this course you can write your own brief for your final project.
Level 3 UAL Applied General Diploma in Art and Design at merit.
The programme is full time and you should expect to be in College for three to four days a week. You will be required to conduct at least 10 hours per week of independent study on top of your College timetable. We do have open access areas and the library for independent study, you can also work from home during this time.
You will learn in a variety of ways, including from demonstrations, skills workshops and formal lessons and you will have the opportunity to work independently in the art studios with one to one support from your lecturer. Assessment is by coursework portfolio and your work will be graded at either pass, merit or distinction.
You can progress to university, then find work as a graphic designer, photographer, fashion designer, interior designer, exhibition designer, ceramicist, jewellery maker, illustrator or fine artist. Or you could choose to move on to related job areas, including animation, television, visual merchandising or web design.
