This introductory course is designed to teach students to communicate with deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL) on a range of simple topics for use in everyday life.
At the end of the course, you will be able to understand and use a limited range of simple relevant words and sentences in BSL, allowing you to take part in simple, everyday conversations.
No previous experience or knowledge of British Sign Language is required.
This course is scheduled for one hour a week, Wednesdays 5-6pm (term time only). You will be expected to attend all of your timetabled sessions on time, unless prior agreement has been made and agreed with your tutor.
This fun and informative course will help expand and practise your skills in BSL.
You could progress on to the Level 1 Award in British Sign Language.

Cheers all round for our Pan Disability football team which has won the 2024-25 Portsmouth Inclusion League. The team, COPC Prem, topped the table with 32 points, having won ten of their 12 league games. The team comprises players of mixed abilities and experience – some in their third season with the club, and some making their league debut.
