Themes and topics will come from French news media and other events happening in the Francophone world from French media written for French speakers in France, Canada, and other parts of the Francophone World.
Depending on the time of year, we will also look at Francophone culture and cultural events that happen in ‘la Francophonie’ at relevant times.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Hold transactional conversations in French about various topics covered during the course and write some basic information and instructions.
- Understand most general things said to them in these kinds of conversations and transactions while being able to understand most written instructions.
This course is for anyone who has studied a considerable amount of French before (at least 40 hours tuition) and wishes to improve on their intermediate knowledge or polish their French making it more "French".
This course is scheduled for two hours per week, Wednesdays 7-9pm (term time only). You will be expected to attend all of your timetabled sessions on time, unless prior arrangement has been made and agreed with your tutor.
If a student arrives more than ten minutes late for class, they may be asked to leave. If a student is absent for three consecutive weeks without notice they will automatically be withdrawn from the course.
While you will not receive a formal qualification, this fun and informative course will help expand and practise your skills in French.
