Get to grips with the basic and intermediate levels of French grammar on City of Portsmouth College's French for Improvers course.
This course, taught on a Tuesday eveing, covers themes and topics from French news media to help you get to grips with understanding the language and its context - plus you'll learn about other events happening in the Francophone world. Depending on the time of year, you'll also look at French culture and cultural events that happen in France at relevant times.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- hold transactional conversations in French about various topics covered during the course and write some basic information and instructions
- understand most general things said to them in conversations and transactions while being able to understand most written instructions
- understand some aspects of the way the French conduct their daily lives and some facets of French culture.
This course is for anyone who has studied some French before (approx. 20 hours tuition) and wishes to improve on their basic knowledge.
Lessons take place on Tuesdays between 7.30 to 9pm. All students are expected to attend all of their timetabled sessions on time, unless prior arrangement has been made and agreed with their tutor.
Please note: If you are more than ten minutes late for class, you may be asked to leave, and if you miss three consecutive weeks without notice, you'll automatically be withdrawn from the course.
While you will not receive a formal qualification, this fun and informative course will help expand and practise your skills in French.
You could progress on to French for Advanced Improvers.
